Overview of the Tour
The Gobi Desert is a large desert area in Southern Mongolia. It’s known for its dunes, mountains and rare animals such as snow leopards and Bactrian camels. The Bactrian camel is a large, even-toed ungulate native to the steppes of Central Asia. The Bactrian camel has two humps on its back, in contrast to the single-humped dromedary camel. Its population of two million exists mainly in the domesticated form. The Gobi measures over 1600 km from southwest to northeast and 800 km from north to south. The animals currently inhabiting the Gobi Desert are well-adapted to survive in the extreme desert climate.
