Overview of the Tour
We will guide you for 12 days of travel through Southern, Central and Northern Mongolia with a lot of adventures. You will experience through an everlasting blue sky, the most spectacular mirages, golden sand dunes and boundlessly steppe lands in the southern Mongolia. Today, the Gobi continues to grow every year, as winds carry desert sand into nearby areas and erodes the surrounding top soil. This process of desertification changes the face of Gobi desert in every seconds of life and even new sand dunes are made by the nature. In central Mongolia, dazzling discoveries are waiting for you about the ancient Mongol Empire. North Mongolia is known for its mountain forest and beautiful lakes, especially Lake Khuvsgul which have the clear crystal pristine water.

- Day 2. Drive to Gobi via Tsagaan Suvarga
The “white stupa” look like a ruined city if you look at them from below. From the top of the hill you get an amazing view across the countryside. It is worth visiting if you are passing through this way. This is well worth a visit as it visually wonderful as well as geographically interesting. It is a big limestone escarpment with a height of 200m and a length of 400m.
- Day 3. Hiking to the Eagle Valley
Yolyn am is a deep and narrow gorge in the Gurvan Saikhan (Three beauties of the Gobi) Mountain National Park and the most easterly points of the Altai Mountains. Yolyn Am, which means Lammergeyer’s mouth. The lammergeier is an eagle, so it is also called Eagle Valley. The scenery is quite dramatic with sheer rock walls that rise to 2600 metres above sea level.
- Day 4. Climb up Khongor Sand Dunes
These are really impressive sand dunes reaching a height of 800 metres, are as wide as 27km and span 120km, of course they are always moving and changing. These sand dunes are also called the Singing Dunes (Duut Mankhan) because when the wind blows or collapses in small avalanches, it sounds like the dunes are singing. The blue sky above the lines of the sand dunes is spectacular.
- Day 5. Ongi Monastry Ruin via Bayanzag
The ruined monastery of Ongi Temple lies on the banks of the Ongi River and it’s the halfway point between the two major travel destinations-the South Gobi and Karakorum. A large number of ruins including a tall stupa can be seen on the river and on the surrounding hills. The Flaming Cliffs also known as Bayanzag, area of the Gobi Desert and certainly live up to their name. The color changes according to the light from an orange red to a deep, glowing red in the evening. Pictures can’t really do justice to this amazing scenery.
- Day 6. Kharkhorin, Capital of Mongol Empire
Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape is one of only four UNESCO registered heritage sites in Mongolia. The Orkhon Valley is a must visit for tourists to experience the nomadic and lush greenland of Mongolia. Karakhorum was ancient capital of Great Mongol Empire in XIII century till Kublai khaan, grandson of Chinggis khaan moved it to current Beijing, China. Visiting Karakorum feels like a pilgrimage when visiting Mongolia. The Mongolian empire stretched further than any empire in the history of civilization, and its centerpiece and capital was Karakorum.
- Day 7. Tsenkher Hot Springs
Tsenkher Hot Springs is a popular natural retreat in central Mongolia, located in Arkhangai Province near the town of Tsetserleg. Surrounded by forested hills and grazing valleys, the springs offer a peaceful escape with their naturally heated, mineral-rich waters. Flowing at temperatures up to 86°C, the springs are believed to have therapeutic benefits, especially for joint and nerve-related conditions. Several ger camps in the area provide open-air pools, allowing visitors to soak in the warm waters while enjoying scenic mountain views. Tsenkher is also a great base for hiking, horseback riding, and experiencing Mongolia’s nomadic lifestyle.
- Day 8. Khorgo, Terkhi Lake
This National Park has two natural wonders- Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan ( also known as the Great White Lake) and the extinct Khorgo Volcano. The lake is beautiful. It’s huge, stretching into the horizon, its waters taking in the changing colours of the sky. There are small hikes nearby. One can go horse-riding, stroll around or just sit by the shores and gaze at the serene waters.
- Day 9. Murun
Murun City (also spelled Mörön) is the provincial capital of Khövsgöl Aimag in northern Mongolia. Set in a broad river valley beside the Delgermörön River, it acts as the main gateway to the pristine Khövsgöl Lake—one of the country’s most iconic natural landmarks. While small and remote, Murun is a lively administrative and cultural center with essential services like schools, hospitals, and a regional airport with flights to and from Ulaanbaatar. The city offers a glimpse into everyday Mongolian life, blending urban convenience with strong ties to nomadic traditions. Nearby attractions include the historic Danzandarjaa Monastery and the ancient Deer Stones—mysterious standing stones decorated with carvings believed to date back over 3,000 years.
- Day 10. Drive to Khuvsgul Lake
The lake is magnificent and one of the world’s great natural wonders. It can be easily your favorite place in the northern Mongolia. The water is crystal clear so that you can see the bottom of the lake about a mile below. It is 1,645 metres (5,397 feet) above sea level, 136 kilometres (85 miles) long and 262 metres (860 feet) deep. There is so much to do in this park – take a boat cruise to see the birds on an island, horseback riding, kayaking and canoeing, birdwatching or checking of the wildflowers in bloom. Don’t miss the sunset, it’s beautiful.
- Day 11. Amarbayasgalant Monastery
Taj Mahal, Angkor Wat, Vatican, Jerusalem, Machu Picchu, Lhasa, Pagan – of all the greatest spiritual centers on earth, there is none today more authentic, purer, nor more spiritual than Amarbaysagalant. This monastery is about 350 km from Ulaanbaatar but is worth the trip.
- Day 12. Return to Ulaanbaatar
We will drive back to Ulaanbaatar. Overnight in the hotel.
- Day 13. Departure
You may choose an optional city tour where you will be taken to souvenir and cashmere shops before leaving for your home soil.
