Overview of the Tour
This tour will be started from the central part of Mongolia through Khugnu-Tarna National park, Orkhon Valley and Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National park for several days. And we will head to the Western Mongolia, the most distant region from the Ulaanbaatar that includes the highest mountain Altai Mountains, Khuiten peak(4374 m), the biggest saltwater lake, Uvs Lake Basin which is one of the UNESCO World Heritage in Mongolia. Also, many smaller lakes, mountains, rivers, forests, and steppe are located here and makes it attractive tour destination for domestic and international travellers .

- Day 1. Arrival in Ulaanbaatar.
Ulaanbaatar is the capital of Mongolia. You’ll be greeted at the airport and accompanied to 4* hotel. If you arrive earlier here, we will take a city tour to some historic and cultural place where you will see the face of ancient and modern Mongolia. You may choose an optional city tour before enjoying an evening concert of National Folklore. Overnight in the hotel. (L+D)
- Day 2. Khugnu Tarna National Park
It is an amazing landscape where there were sand dunes, trees, Rocky Mountains, grass land, and even a mineral water sources all in one location. The scenery is spectacular combination of desert, picturesque mountain, river and green grassland.
- Day 3. Kharkohrin, Erdenezuu, Okhon Valley
Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape is one of only four UNESCO registered heritage sites in Mongolia. The Orkhon Valley is a must visit for tourists to experience the nomadic and lush greenland of Mongolia. Karakhorum was ancient capital of Great Mongol Empire in XIII century till Kublai khaan, grandson of Chinggis khaan moved it to current Beijing, China. Visiting Karakorum feels like a pilgrimage when visiting Mongolia. The Mongolian empire stretched further than any empire in the history of civilization, and its centerpiece and capital was Karakorum.
- Day 4. Khorgo, Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National park
This National Park has two natural wonders- Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan ( also known as the Great White Lake) and the extinct Khorgo Volcano. The lake is beautiful. It’s huge, stretching into the horizon, its waters taking in the changing colours of the sky. There are small hikes nearby. One can go horse-riding, stroll around or just sit by the shores and gaze at the serene waters.
- Day 5. Telmen Lake
Telmen Lake is a saltwater lake in Zavkhan, Mongolia. Three islands are located in the lake, which is a gathering point for migratory birds. The water salinity is 6.49-7.61‰. Average temperature ranges from -32 oC in January to 12 oC in July. From 6,210 to 3,960 years ago, as determined by radiocarbon dating, Lake Telmen was between 15 and 20m shallower than it is at present.
- Day 6. Khyargas Lake
Khyargas Lake is a salt lake in Khyargas district, Uvs Province, Western Mongolia. Some sources are using different Khyargas Lake statistics values: Water level: 1,035.29 m Surface area: 1,481.1 km² Average depth: 50.7 m Volume: 75.2 km³. The Khyargas Lake National Park is based on the lake. With average depth of 50 meters and area covering nearly 1500 km its a third largest lake in Mongolia and a second largest salt water lake here. Great fishing, beautiful driving and camping spots.
- Day 7. Uvs Lake
Uvs Lake is a highly saline lake in an endorheic basin – Uvs Nuur Basin in Mongolia with a small part in Russia. It is the largest lake in Mongolia by surface area, covering 3,350 km² at 759 m above sea level. The northeastern tip of the lake is situated in the Tuva Republic of the Russian Federation.
- Day 8. Uureg & Achit Lake
Uureg Lake is a saline lake in an endorheic basin in western Mongolia, north-west of the Great Lakes Hollow, near the western edge of the Uvs Nuur basin. The Tsagaan river gorge Tsagaan Shuvuut Uul lies on the west side of the lake. Achit Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Uvs Aimag, Mongolia, in the west of the country. At an elevation of 1,435 m above sea level it covers an area of 290 km². It is 28 km long, 16 km wide, and 10 m deep. The coast is covered with steppes, mostly hilly but swampy on the northwest and northeast.
- Day 9. Tsambagarav National Park
Tsambagarav National Park is a national park in Bayan-Ölgii Province of western Mongolia. It covers more than 1,110 square kilometres in a glacial region which includes Tsambagarav mountain of Mongolia. It has a notable population of snow leopards, amongst other species.
- Day 10. Altai Tavan Bogd National Park
Altai Tavan Bogd National Park sits in remote western Mongolia, bordering China and Russia. It’s home to the towering, jagged Tavan Bogd mountains, the highest of which is Khüiten Peak. Nearby is the massive Potanin Glacier. In the center, the vast Khoton and Khurgan lakes are connected by a channel and home to many fish and bird species. The ancient rock carvings of Tsagaan Salaa lie on the park’s northeast fringe.
- Day 11. Potanin Glacier
The Potanin Glacier is the longest glacier in Mongolia, its long about 14 kilometres and located through in the Altai Tavan Bogd mountain in Altai Mountains. The glacier is named after explorer Grigory Potanin. As many other glaciers around the world, the Potanin Glacier is gradually decreasing in size.
- Day 12. Ulgii Town
Ulgii is the capital of the Bayan-Ölgii Aimag of Mongolia, located in the extreme west of the country. It lies on an altitude of 1,710 meters. City population is 28,496.
- Day 13. Flying to Ulaanbaatar
We will fly back to Ulaanbaatar. Overnight in the hotel.
- Day 14. City tour and departure
You may choose an optional city tour where you will be taken to souvenir and cashmere shops before leaving for your home soil.
